Welcome
Hi, I’m Amanda Robertson, and welcome to my photography world fromthelens.com.au. Photography is one of those longtime passions that I enjoy. I don't always have time for it, but when I do, I really appreciate it.
I’ve been on several photography courses, but I must admit that all the editing work isn't my thing. So in my photos, what comes out of the camera is what you’ll see, with a few automatic tweaks and crops (but that’s it). A really great photographer, Tom Putt, taught me the importance of patience in landscape photography, emphasising the need to think about a shot and how to set up for a good one.
For all my photography, I’ve been shooting with Canon cameras, except for those quick shots with the iPhone 16 Pro. My Canon EOS 5D, paired with a variety of lenses, is getting a bit heavy these days, especially when travelling. So I thought it was time to look for a lighter camera. I chose another Canon, the EOS R50. It’s very light and compact, which will be great for travelling.
So why the Canon R50? I wanted a camera that would help me cheat with my photos a bit more, so I like the scene choice, which makes it a “point and shoot”, plus it has video for capturing those fun moments. I still have all the same choices as my 5D, if I want to get a bit more technical, but without the weight.
As I’m just rebuilding the website, my gallery isn’t yet complete. It is made up of a variety of projects, mainly relating to life and things I do with my husband, Trevor. Sometimes they’re just short projects for entertainment, other times there’s a story attached, so as I update my myriad of photos sitting in the cloud, the gallery will grow.
I hope you enjoy looking around my gallery and seeing the world through my lens.
